About Dichroic Glass
A high-tech space-age technology developed by NASA. Thin layers of metallic vapors such as Titanium, Silicon and Magnesium, are deposited upon the glass surface with an electron beam in a high temperature vacuum furnace.
Dichroic coatings reflect certain colors of light while transmitting others, creating a colorful reflection of light similar to the iridescence of a fire opal.
Glass Garden then creates art glass jewelry pieces by fusing the Dichroic material to other compatible glass. We then diamond cut and fire polish to achieve its opalescent beauty.
